Question 75118: Hello,
This problem is not from a text book and has no ISBN number. I have done a portion of the problem, and now I'm stuck.
1/4 + (1/2-2/3). 1/2-2/3 changing the denominator to 6 I now have 3/6-4/6 and you can't subtract 4 from 3. Where do I go from here?
Thanks
Answer by funmath(2933) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/4 + (1/2-2/3)
You have now entered the realm of positive and negative numbers. If you had 3 dollars in the bank and wrote a check for 4 dollars, you would be overdrawn by 1 dollar. You'd have -1 dollars.
Happy Calculating!!!!
