Question 679680: what is the answer to 5/8 divided by 1 1/4 and why?
What do you do to get that answer? The way I understood how to do this is:
1 1/4 becomes 5/4, then you invert the 5/8 to 8/5 and multiply, but before you do, you cancel out across, so it would really be like multiplying 2/1 x 1/1 = 2 but the answer they give is 1/2. Why?
