You're going to want to begin by subtracting (3/4) from (5/6) so you can get 'z' by itself.
Step 1: (3/4 - 3/4) + z = (5/6 - 3/4)
You'll get: z = (5/6 - 3/4)
Step 2: The LCD (Least Common Denominator) that both of these fractions share is 24 because 6*4 is 24. The LCD is the least number that both of the denominators are able to multiply into.
Multiply each fraction by 24 to the numerator like so:
Step 3: z = [(5/6) (24/1)] - [(3/4) (24/1)]
Multiply top to top and bottom to bottom like so:
5*24 (numerators) and 6*1 (denominators) to the first fraction, and the second fraction should be 3*24 (numerators) and 4*1 (denominators)
