The first thing you need to do is turn the entire thing into a fraction
6 1/9- to get rid of the 6, multiply the bottom of the fraction with the coefficient (9*6) which gives you 54. Then add that to whatever the top of the fraction is (54+1) in this case
6 1/9 is equal to 55/9
Do the same thing with 3 1/3- multiply 3*3, to get 9. Add 9+1 (the top number)and the fraction is 10/3
In order to subtract two fractions, they have to have the same denominator (the bottom number.) Luckily in this case, you can get them both to 9. Your first number is already there, to get the second number there all you have to do is multply by 3. Remember that when you multiply fractions, you are multiplying both the top and the bottom
so 10/3= 10*3/3*3= 30/9
your problem is now
55/9-30/9. When you subtract fractions you only subtract the top numbers, and the bottom stays the same:
(55-30)/9= 25/9
your answer is 25/9
