10=50/5 so 10 2/5=52/5
and
4=32/8 so 4 5/8=37/8
Now we have:
(52/5)/(37/8) this is a complex fraction so we need to work on it a little. Now we can reduce it to a simple fraction by multiplying the numerator and denominator of the complex fraction by (8/37). It looks like this:
(52/5)(8/37)/(37/8)(8/37) Now, as you can see, when we carry out the multiplications the denominator of the complex fraction becomes 1, sooooo
(52/5)(8/37)/1=
8*52/5*37= 416/185=2.24864

4 5/8=4.625
(10.4)/(4.625)=2.2864
