Question 450931: a squared - b squared over a squared times a over 2(b-a)

I'm guessing you mean this:
[(a^2 - b^2)/a^2] * [a/2(b - a)]
a^2 - b^2 is the difference of 2 squares, which can be factored to (a + b)(a - b).
So we have [(a + b)(a - b)/a^2] * [a/2(b - a)].
Multiplying across gives (a + b)(a - b)a/a^2*2(b - a).
Factor out -1 from (b - a) to get -(a - b).
(a + b)(a - b)a/-a^2*2(a - b)
Divide numerator and denominator by (a - b).
(a + b)a/-a^2*2
Divide numerator and denominator by a.
-(a + b)/2a
