Hello,
Let's have x be the smaller and (x+7) be the larger number. Here's the equation that can be setup:
4x+5(x+7)=143
Combine like terms to get:
9x+35=143
Subtract 35 from both sides to get:
9x=108
Divide by 9 to result in:
x=12
So the numbers are:
12 & 19
Make sense?
