Question 311053: a for instance 4/63+1/45
i can find GCF eventually just guessing, and same with simplifying answer of 27/315 to 3/35, but i do it by picking factors and narrowing it down until i find one that works. how can i find GCF faster and simplify it faster?
Thanks for the help.

You can factor the terms:
63 = 3*3*7
45 = 3*3*5
Then pick out all factors that are not common (5 & 7 here) and include enough of the ones that are, 2 3's in this case.

Finding the GCF and the LCD are greatly over-rated, imo.

the fastest way i do it when i dont want to take the time to find one i just multiply the to denominators together and then simplify
so but that does seem to make big numbers both 243 and 2835 divisable by 9 so (27/315) but its still divisible by 9 so (3/35).

the best way to factor them is to factor the denominators seperatly

what u want to do is keep what factors are in common: and include the other factors from both that arent in common: 315 is the LCF (lowest common factor) and by looking at the factors you know to multiply a 5 to the 4 and a 7 to the 1 so: =
