Question 308017: 7. What fraction should be added to 3/8 and 5/12 to make the result 1
I'm not sure if I remember the right way to do this, but this is what I tried.
3/8 + 5/12 + a/b = 1
3/8 = 9/24
5/12 = 10/24
19/24 + a/24 = 1
19/24 + 5/24 = 24/24 = 1
a/b = 5/24

thats correct just had to find the common denominator and then add the 2 fractions then take that numerator and subtract it from the 1 made by the denominator.
well done
