Answer by Cintchr(481) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.5%
when changing a percent to decimal format move the decimal point 2 places to the left.
.5% = .005
the 5 is in th 1000ths place
.005 = 5/1000
reduce the fraction
1/200

0.5%
0.5% means 0.5 per cent
(cent means 100)
Therefore 0.5 percent means 0.5 for every 100
That is (0.5)/100 = 5/1000 (shifting the decimal to the right by one place in the nr and hence one zero inclusion in the dr)
= 5/(5X200) = 1/200 (canceling 5)
Answer: 0.5% = 1/200
which is your choice (2)
Verification:(1/200) means 1 out of 200
Therefore what out of 100?
The answer is naturally (1/2) which is 0.5
how?
(1/200)X100 =(1/2) (canceling 100)
Note: You don't have to write anything of these things in the test. Just figure out orally and mark the right answer. This was just the teacher talking to you!
