To find the toatal change in xyz's stock price, you will need to add (-2 1/8) and (-1 3/4).
-2 1/8 + (-1 3/4) = -2 1/8 + (-1 6/8) = -3 7/8
The stock price dropped a total of 3 7/8 points.
