Question 204293: A friend of mine asked me how this problem would work; if y varies directly with x, and y=10 when x=15, find y when x=6. The last time I worked on those kind of problems was in the 7th grade and am not sure if the way I solved it is right (and before I give him a wrong answer I wanted to know if I solved this problem right)
y=mx 10=m15 m=10/15=2/3 y=2/3x
so y= 2/3(6)= 2/3*6/1=12/3=4 so then y=4
