Start with the given expression.


Take note that the LCD is 6. In order to combine these fractions, we need to get ALL the denominators equal to the LCD.



Multiply both the numerator and denominator of the first fraction by 3 to get the first denominator equal to the LCD 6.


Multiply both the numerator and denominator of the second fraction by 2 to get the second denominator equal to the LCD 6.


Now that the denominators are equal, we can combine the fractions.


Combine like terms.
