Question 197816: 2 5/2- 2 3/2=
I believe the answer should be one and so does your site, but on a college level entrance exam it is telling me the answer is 2 3/2. It is a fraction problem. I basically just
9/2-7/2
after converting them
2/2=1?
Please any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 5/2- 2 3/2= 9/2-7/2=2/2=1
or
(2 + 2 1/2)-(2+1 1/2)=4 1/2 - 3 1/2=1
I vote for your approach.
