I am assuming that the x is NOT in a denominator. If this was NOT your intention, you'll have to resubmit the problem.
The LCD for the denominators of 8, 6, and 3 will be 24, so multiply both sides by 24.
R^2

x + = what value is x?
:
Multiply a common multiple of all three denominators, 24:
24*x + 24*= 24*
:
Cancel out the denominators and you have:
3(3x) + 4(5) = 8(2)
:
9x + 20 = 16
:
9x = 16 - 20
:
9x = -4
x =
