Question 173914: Ok, I just don't get this one at all would I have to find the LCM first? Or would I multiply the reciprocal of one of them? I'm confused.
5/8x+1/16x=5/16+x
I'm not sure but is the answer to this question 1?

Your equation is a bit hard to decipher (you should use parentheses so that we can understand exactly what goes in your numerators and denominators) but having said that, I think you meant to write

Either way, with rational expressions, you need to find the Lowest Common Denominator.

You have denominators of 8, 16, and 1 (the 1 is the understood denominator under the x on the right side of the equation)

So, your LCD here is 16
