Question 166924:
Answer by JessicaGill(40) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The problem can be solved by doing the following
1. Isolate the variable, in this case x, to one side. To do this we must apply the opposite of division which is multiplication to isolate the x. This must be done to both sides.
2. Cross cancel the 4's on the left and you are left with
3. Mulitply to get 24
4. x = 24
To check your work, just replace the x with 24 and calculate.
Reduce this by dividing 4 into 24 as such: 4 divided by 4 equals 1 and 24 divided by 4=6 6=6
Hope this helps
