Question 159160: Solve for T this is a fraction, sorry it looks so funny but I wasn't sure how to make it look like a fraction. Can you show step by step please so we can understand the steps. The four is below the 7+3t and the 8 is below the -t and they are all fractions. It looks like a 48 when I preview it but they are seperate from each other. Thanks

Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
:
Assume the problem is:
=
Multiply both sides by 8:
8*() = 8*()
Cancel the denominators and you have:
2(7+3t) = -t
:
14 + 6t = -t
:
6t + t = -14
:
7t = -14
t =
t = -2
;
:
Check solution in original equation:
=
= ; minus a minus is a plus
= ;confirms our solution
