Question 150881: Factor 4^2+7x-2 and 16y^2=25, algebra is the worst thing ever, who understands those numbers and letters put together must be a genius!
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Factor 4x^2+7x-2
Using the AC Method of factoring:
Think of two numbers whose product is AC = 4*-2 = -8
and whose sum = B = 7
------------------
The numbers are +8 and -1
-----------------
Rewrite the problem, substituting 8x-x in place of 7x:
4x^2+8x-x-2
Factor the 1st two and the last two terms separately to get:
4x(x+2)-(x+2)
Factor again to get the final answer:
(x+2)(4x-1)
--------------------------
Factor 16y^2=25
Rewrite: 16y^2-25 = 0
This is the "difference of squares" form.
Factor:
(4y-5)(4y+5)
----------------------------
Comment: You are not the 1st person to have difficulty
with algebra. Find a good teacher/tutor and work hard
and you will learn. You have to decide whether it is
worth the effort.
----------------------------
