Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The quotient of 2 numbers is 5, their difference is 10, what are these numbers?
-----------------
x/y = 5
x-y = 10
------------
Change form:
x = 5y
Substitute:
5y-y=10
4y=10
y = 5/2
---------
Substitute
x = 5(5/2)
x = 25/2
--------------
Checking:
x/y = (25/2)/(5/2) = 5; true
x-y = (25/2)-(5/2) = 20/2 = 10; true
