Question 132954: If 1/2 of the class uses 3/8 of the computers. What is the minimum number of students in the class?

Since the fraction 3/8 is reduced to lowest terms, and the number of computers must be an integer (you can't have 1.3 computers for example), there must be some multiple of 8 computers. The smallest multiple of 8 is 8 itself, so for the minimum number of students, the minimum number of computers is 8, and 1/2 of the students are using 3 of them. So 3 is 1/2 of the minimum number of students, which therefore must number 6.
