Question 105873: Hey, I need some help figuring out this word problem: Sara needs $7,500 to go to school for one year. She earns 2/5 of this in the summer. How much did she earn in the summer? I thought I just needed to put 7,500 over 1 and then subract 2/5... but it didn't seem right when I tried to do it. Thanks for the help.
Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If she has earned 2/5 of 7500 she has 3/5 yet to earn
7500*3/5=$4500.
