Question 198582: How would i graph x^2+2x-15>0 on a number line? I factored the equation to (x+5)(x-3)>0. than i solved for x and got x>-5 and x>3. so when i graphed it on a number line one starts at -5 and goes to the right and the other starts at 3 and goes to the right. The answer is suppose to be graphted with starting at the -5 and going to the left and starting with the 3 and going to the right. what am i missing. this question is not from a textbook. thanks

Question 199808: Hello,
I am stuck again and at the end of my rope, please help me!! I need help with the following problems:
1) Find the equation, in standard form, of the line perpendicular to 2x + 3y = -5 and passing through (3,-5). Write the equation in standard form, with all integer coefficients.
2) Solve the system of equations using the substitution method. If the answer is a unique solution, present it as an ordered pair: (x,y). If not, specify whether the answer is "no solution" or "infinitely many solutions" and state how you arrived at that conclusion.
-7x + y = 4
2x + 8y = 0
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Question 208667: This is my grandson's other problem from his summer worksheet that he doesn't know how to do. Write a series of five decimal numbers that increase by 0.2 and add up to a total of 5. I think I've figured it out just by guessing (.60+.80+1.00+1.20+1.40) but I have no idea how to explain to him the right way to figure this out. There must be a logical solution other than trial and error or guessing.
