Question 973566: If 2x=3y, what is (x+y)/(x-y) equal to ?
Answer by rothauserc(4718)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
we are given 2x = 3y, then
x = 3y/2
the formula to solve is
(x+y)/(x-y)
now we can substitute for x in the formula
(3y/2 + y) / (3y/2 - y) =
(5y/2) / (y/2) =
(5y/2) * (2/y) =
5, therefore
(x+y) / (x-y) = 5
