What is a definition of perfect numbers?What are the first 3 perfect numbers,and why are they "perfect."
:
The definition of a perfect number (that I learned) is a number in which all the factors, when added together equal the number;
:
The first perfect number is 6, factors 1 + 2 + 3 = 6
:
The next perfect number is 28, factor 1 + 2 + 4 + 7 + 14 = 28
:
496 and 8,128 are also supposed to be perfect numbers which were known to the ancient Greeks.
I read that a fifth perfect number was discovered by someone a couple hundred years ago. It was 33,550,336. And since the advent of the computer, 32 more have been discovered, The largest has 1,819,050 digits!! All perfect numbers are even so far, but they are not sure if that will always be true.
