SOLUTION: Solve x^2 + 3x > 10 Graph on number line and write in interval notation
I did (x +5) *x -2) > 0
x + 5 > 0
x - 2 > 0
x = -5 x = 2
in interval notation I wrote (-5, infini

Question 381844: Solve x^2 + 3x > 10 Graph on number line and write in interval notation
I did (x +5) *x -2) > 0
x + 5 > 0
x - 2 > 0
x = -5 x = 2
in interval notation I wrote (-5, infinity) but that is wrong it is suppose to be (-infinity, -5)U (x, infiinity)
graph on number line would then go from -5 to left and 2 to right
I don't understand what I did wrong.
Am I correct in my assessment of problem and just wrote notation incorrectly then graphed incorrectly on the number line.
Thanks, Carol
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2 + 3x > 10
x^2 + 3x - 10 > 0
(x + 5)(x - 2) > 0
x is in the set (-infinity, -5) U (2, infinity)
