Sometimes it is true and sometimes no.
in the case of 3 the opposite is -3
so yes
in the case of -3 the opposite is 3
so no.
If the problem were "The opposites are always less than the original number."
Then the answer would be "No, not true."

The statement is NOT true since the opposite of -3 is 3 (and 3 is NOT less than -3).
