Step 1) Draw a straight horizontal line
Step 2) Draw tick marks at equal distances and label them with whole numbers (think of a ruler).
To plot , realize that Since 0.75 is less than 1 but greater than zero, this means that 0.75 goes in between 0 and 1. Also, note that 0.75 > 0.5 (which is one-half). So 0.75 is in between 1/2 and 1.
If you follow the same logic used above to plot -1/3 and 5, you should get:
