-4.125 is not less than -5.
-4.125 is more positive than -5 so it is a larger guantity on the number line.

It helps if you draw a line so you can actually see it, but basically 4.125 is closer to 0 on the number line.
if you owe someone 4.125 dollars thats less than if you owed them 5 dollars.
