area of trapezoid = (base + other base)/2 * (height)

224 = (x + 20)/2 * 16
28 = x + 20

x = 8m

    20 + x =  = 28


      x    = 28 - 20 = 8.


ANSWER.  the length of the other base is 8 meters.
