Question 1002442: Two students participated in a fund raiser event walk backwards for hunger. John walked backwards 2/3 of a mile and Mary walked backwards 3/4 of a mile. Determine the amount of money John and Mary each raised if the amount raised is $93.50( the amount raised is proportional to the distance walked)
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
money raised for walking a mile = x
2x/3 + 3x/4 = 93.50
x = 66
John raised 2(66)/3 = 44 dollars.
Mary raised 3(66)/4 = 49.5 dollars.
