Question 240590: which numbers are between 0.5 and 3/4 on a number line Answer by rapaljer(3622) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Did you have a list of numbers to choose from? There are infinitely many such numbers, so you can't possibly list them all. The one that is halfway between these would be the average of 0.5=1/2 and 3/4, which is 5/8.

Question 237994: four times the sum of three consecutive integers is 180 What are the integers?
Answer by College Student(216) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!First, we know we need 3 consecutive integers, so you can say:
1. x
2. x+1
3. x+2
Now, their sum is multiplied by 4 in order to equal 180. So, here's your equation:

Now solve for x...

Now divide by 12 on both sides to find x.
I'll let you do it.
The result will give you the first digit (step 1.) above.
Then you can figure out the other two numbers.
=============================================================
Proof:
Plug those 3 numbers in this equation, see if you get 180=180.
Question 237931: Please help. Can someone please show me the steps so I can understand how to do this?
Solve for a
a^2+a-42=0
Factor
72-17s+s^2 Answer by Alan3354(6097) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Solve for a
a^2+a-42=0
Factor it
(a + 7)*(a - 6) = 0
a = -7, a = 6
--------------
Factor
72-17s+s^2
= s^2 - 17s + 72 It's a good idea to put it in descending order.
----------------
The coefficents of the x terms are both 1.
So it will be:
(x ± a)*(x ± b)
The two numbers multiply to 72, a*b = 72
The 72 is positive, so they have the same sign.
The s term is negative, so a and b are negative.
--> (x - a)*(x - b)
ab = 72
a+b = -17
---------
Look at the factors of 72 and the sum:
1 and 72 = 73
2 and 36 = 38
3 and 24 = 27
4 and 18 = 22
6 and 12 = 18
8 and 9 = 17 That's it.
72-17s+s^2 = (s - 8)*(s - 9)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!1-2 + 3 -4 + ....-98 + 99 equals
a) -50 b) -49 c) 0 d) 49 e) 50
----------
There are 99 numbers
Pair them up:
1+99 = 100
-2-98 = -100
3+97 = 100
etc.
The pairs are alternately +100 and -100, until you get to -50. It has nothing to pair with, so the sum is
-50

There are 99 numbers.
Put them in pairs,
1+99 = 100
-2-98 = -100
...
49+51 = 100 It's all even, at zero, to this point
Then the -50 has nothing to pair with
--> = -50

Question 229275: explain how to find the greatest interger on a number line Answer by solver91311(5072) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Don't know what an interger is. If you mean integer, then you can't find the greatest integer on a number line. A number line goes on forever, so there is no largest number on it. Of course, you can only represent part of a number line at any given time, so I guess the greatest integer on any given segment of the number line would be the integer with the largest value that you could see on that segment.

Question 226314: whats 1 Answer by rapaljer(3622) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! means the same as . x represents ANY number that is GREATER than 1. For example 2, 3, 4, etc. Draw a numberline and locate the number 1 on this numberline. Shade everything to the RIGHT of 1. You do NOT want to include the number 1, so you can either use an open circle, or a parentheses opening to the right, whichever notation your teacher tells you to use.

Question 219000: i need help
i dont know how to graph 3/4, - 1/3 and 5 on a number line
i know that 3/4 is equal to 0.75 and - 1/3 is equal to -0.33
but how would the numbers go on the number line Answer by jim_thompson5910(13794) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!Step 1) Draw a straight horizontal line
Step 2) Draw tick marks at equal distances and label them with whole numbers (think of a ruler).
To plot , realize that Since 0.75 is less than 1 but greater than zero, this means that 0.75 goes in between 0 and 1. Also, note that 0.75 > 0.5 (which is one-half). So 0.75 is in between 1/2 and 1.
If you follow the same logic used above to plot -1/3 and 5, you should get:

- 12,000,000 mm
THANK YOU!! Answer by Studenttt(8) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!So for conversions an easy way to remember it is [K]ing [H]enry [D]ied [M]onday [D]rinking [C]hocolate [M]ilk each letter stands for a unit.
K=kilometers
D=dekameters
M=meters
D=decimeters
C=centimeters
M=millimeters
for each letter you add a decimal point or a zero
so since deci is one above centi you move the decimal point to the left one place
2dm=20cm
milli is 3 below meter move the decimal point to the left 3 places
689mm=0.689m
since you moved the decimal point over one to the right you'd go up one from deci which is meters
124decimeters=12.4m
move the decimal point over 2 places
0.23cm=0.0023meters
moving the decimal point to the right three places would give you
1200m =1.2km
so since you want to move the decimal point over 3 places which would be dekameters
1.002 dekameters=1002cm
moving the decimal point over 6 places gives you kilometers
0.12km=120000mm
move the decimal point over 3 places gives you milimeters
0.6m=600mm
move the decimal point over 3 places gives you kilometers
125000m=125km
those are all the conversions but i'm not quite sure what you mean by a real-life object? you could google them if you just need something like that
