6x + 4y = 2

3x + y = - 1______eq (i)
6x + 4y = 2______eq (ii)
- 12x - 4y = 4______Multiplying eq (i) by - 4______eq (iii)
- 6x = 6______Adding eqs (iii) & (ii)
x = - 1
Substitute - 1 for x in either eq (i) or (ii) to obtain the value of y
Then do a check!!
