Question 770772: Solve using Gauss-Jordan elimination method
x+3y =0
x+4y+z=1
2x-y-z=23
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+3y =0.....1
x+4y+z=1....2
2x-y-z=23.....3
Add (2) + (3)
x + 4y + z = 1
2x - y - z = 23
3x + 3y = 24...4
Consider (1) and (4)
x + 3y = 0....1
3x + 3y = 24...4
Subtract
-2x = -24
2x = 24
x = 12
Substitute x = 12 in ((1)
x + 3y = 0.....1
12 + 3y = 0
3y = - 12
y = -4
Substitute x = 12, y = -4
in (2)
x + 4y + z = 1
12 +4(-4) + z = 1
12 - 16 + z = 1
-4 + z = 1
z = 1 + 4
z = 5.
x = 12, y = -4 and z = 5
Hope this helps.
