Question 651012: = 7 2(4)-11how would i determine whether (2,4,1) is a solution of the following system.
2x-4+z=-11
x+y=6
2y-z=7

Plug in the numbers (2,4,1) for (x,y,z) in each equation. If all three are true, then that is a solution.

Is the first equation supposed to be 2x-4y+z=-11? If so, it's true. If not, it's not true and therefore the given ordered triple doesn't solve the system.

2(2) -4(4) +1 = -11 --> 4-16+1 = -11 is true.

2+4 = 6 is true

2(4)-1 = 7 is true.
