variables for logs go in front the problem reads:
7log(x)=11.49
divide by 7
log(x)=1.64
this log is to the base ten so take 10^1.64 power that is your answer

Slight problem with the previous answer. Didn't take the log of 11.49 in the first step. Fundimental rule of alegbra, anything you do to one side you must do to the other. I'm using the natural log, because I use it more often, but base 10 log x and 10^x will work as well:
Of course the other way to do it is to simply take the 7th root of both sides.
