Let x = what
5.77220%*x = 3,720.97
where x is the total
.0577220*x = 3720.97

Think of it this way
5% of what is 5
5%*x=5 convert percent to decimal
.05*x=5
convert to fraction to see the lesson.
5/100*x=5
multiply both sides by 100
5x=500
x=100
so .05*100=5
5% of 100=5
