ax + by = B
ax + by = 500
50x + 10y = 500
10y = 500 - 50x
y = 50-5x

2x-4y=7
4x+2y=9
I began to solve multiplying by 2 for the 2nd equation to get rid of the variable y
2x-4y=7
8x+4y=18
10x=25
25/10 = 2.5 or x = 2.5

2(2.5)-4y=7
-4y=7
y=3
