Question 58537This question is from textbook
: given these two points on a line, write the equation in slope-intercept form:
(5,-13) and (2,-1)
i did the coordinate approach and came out with: -1-(-13)/2-5=-4, which is the slope. to find the y=intercept, i took one of the points and did: 2=-4(-1)+b. I came out with 2=4+b. now subtracted 4 from both sides and got: 4-2=4+b-4 which simplifies to:-2=b. so my final equation would read: y=-4x+(-2). is this correct??This question is from textbook

Question 58539This question is from textbook
: A group of mountain climbers begin an expedition with 265 lb of food. They plan to eat a total of 15 lb of food a day.
a. write an equation in slope intercept form(i think they're refering to y=mx+b) relating the remaining food supply r to the number of days d. Are they saying that r would be the slope, and d the y-intercept?? I don't get it. how would i figure out what to plug in? would the slope be 15 and y-intercept 265???
c. The group plans to eat the last of their food the day their expedition ends. use your graph(i'll figure one out) to find out how many days they expect the expedition to last. i'm thinking about 17 because 265/15 equals 17.666666....can someone plz help??This question is from textbook
