The question is, penny family decided to go to the splash park. they purchased two adult tickets and two adult child tickets. the adult tickets were 1.5 time the price of the child tickets and the total cost for all four tickets was $85. what was the cost of each type of ticket.

Let represent the cost of a child's ticket. Then is the amount they spent on the children's tickets. Further, is the cost of an adult's ticket, so is the amount spent on the adults' tickets. The sum of these two amounts is the total spent, or $85.
