Theresa is 4 years older than Teresita
Th = 4 + Te
In 5 years the sum of their ages will = 48
(Th + 5) + (Te + 5) = 48
Replace Th with 4 + Te from top equation
4 + Te + 5 + Te + 5 = 48
Collect like terms
14 + 2Te = 48
2Te = 48 - 14
2Te = 34
Te = 17
Current ages:
Theresa = 21 yrs old
Teresita = 17 years old
