Question 98158: how do you determine whether the graphs of the equation are parallel lines

1. 3x-4=y
y-3x=8

Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A) 3x-4=y
B) y-3x=8
Slope-intercept form: y=mx+b
m is the slope.
If both equations have the same slope (m) they are parallel or equal.
A) is in the correct form already. Its m is 3.
add 3x to B) to get: y=3x+8. its m=3 also.
they are parallel.
Easy, no?
