Solve the following problem y > 2x + 1 and describe how to determine which side of the line to shade.
How do I know which side of the line to shade?
------
Simple Rule::
If the line is y = 2x+1,
then y greater than 2x + 1 must be above the line.
------------
Comment::
y = 2x+1 is boundary. y > 2x+1 is the half-plane ABOVE the boundary.
---
y < 2x+1 is the half-plane BELOW the boundary.
---------------
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Stan H.
