Question 970951: Determine the Equation of a vertical line that goes through the point (-3,7)
Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 x = -3
since it's a vertical line, any value of y will satisfy the eqution.
y = 7 is just one of them.
the value of x is always -3.
the slope is undefined because there is no change in the value of x and the formula for slope is change in value of y divided by change in value of x.
the standard form of the equation for a straight line is ax + by = c.
when the line is vertical, the value of b is equal to 0.
you get ax + 0y = c
0y disappears and you are left with ax = c
