We are given
3x + 4y = 14
x = 2y - 12
******
from the second equation we know x = 2y - 12, therefore
substitute for x in the first equation
3(2y - 12) +4y = 14
6y - 36 + 4y = 14
combine like terms
10y = 50
y = 5
x = 2*5 - 12
x = -2
our answer is (-2, 5)
which is answer B
******
check our answer by substituting for x and y in the first equation
(3*-2) + (4*5) = 14
-6 + 20 = 14
14 = 14
our answer checks

Plug in for x and solve:
3(2y - 12) + 4y = 14
6y - 36 + 4y = 14
10y = 50
Y = 5
B is the only one with "5" in the y spot, so it's b, you will also get that if you plug y in for the other equation
