Hi! Can you please answer this immediately with a final answer and a complete solution..
Find the x intercept and the y intercept of the line joining the points (2,-4) and(-1/2,1/4)
solution
slope M= y2-y1/x2-x1
y2-y1=1/4-(-4)=1/4+4=17/4
x2-x1=(-1/2)-2=-2-1/2=-5/2
slope M=17x2/-5x4=17/-10
equation of line
y-y1=M(X-X1)
y-(-4)=17/-10(x-2)
-10(y+4)=17(x-2)
-10y-40=17x-34
-10y-17x=-34+40
-10y-17x=+6
if line having equation x/a +y/b =1 than intercept on x is a and intercept on y is b
-10y/6-17x/6=1 by dividing equation by 6
y/6/-10+x/6/-17=1
so y intercept will be -6/10 or -3/5
and x intercept will be -6/17
