Answer by checkley75(3666) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
GIVEN 1 POINT OF (2,-3) & A SLOPE (m) OF 3.
YOU SOLVE THE STANDARD LINE EQUATION :
Y=mX+b WHERE (m)=SLOPE & (b)=Y INTERCEPT.
SUBSTITUTE THE [POINTS COORDINATES FOR X&Y & THE 3 FOR THE SLOPE & SOLVE FOR THE Y INTERCEPT (b)
-3=3*2+b
-3=6+b
b=-3-6
b=-9 SO THE LINE EQUATION IS
Y=3X-9 FOR A SLOPE OF 3 THROUGH THE POINT (2,-3)
NOW THAT YOU HAVE THE EQUATION SET X=0 & SOLE FOR Y:
Y=3*0-9
Y=-9 OR THE POINT (0,-9) IS ANOTHER POINT OIN THIS LINE.
SET Y=0 & SOLVE FOR X
0=3X-9
3X=9
X=3 OR (3,0) IS ANOTHER POINT.
