Question 918840: i need help with the following problem that I was given in my class:
When put on a coordinate plane, Rogers Street can be represented by the equation y = 2x - 5. Broadway is parallel to Rogers Street and goes through the point (1, 0). Write the equation for Broadway in slope-intercept form.

The slopes are equal if the two streets are parallel. The y-intercepts of the two equations are different.

y=mx+b
y-mx=mx+b-mx
b=y-mx

i need help with the following problem that I was given in my class:
When put on a coordinate plane, Rogers Street can be represented by the equation y = 2x - 5. Broadway is parallel to Rogers Street and goes through the point (1, 0). Write the equation for Broadway in slope-intercept form.

Having the same slope (2) as Rogers Street, and passing through the point, (1, 0), Broadway's equation is:

y - 0 = 2(x - 1)
