Question 918824: The question is this: write a linear equation that has (3, -2) as the solution.
Began thinking that m= would equal -2/3 but began second guessing myself as I was worried that I should have a 2nd y and x coordinates for the y2-y1/ x2-x1.
Initially I plugged in :
-2 = (-2/3)3 +b
But again worried that my slope, m , was not (-2/3).
Thanks for your help.

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
write a linear equation that has (3, -2) as the solution.
---------
x = 3
y = -2
---------
Multiply x by any number; multiply y by any number.
2x = 6
3y = -6
-----
Add the 2 resulting equations::
2x + 3y = 0
-----
Solve for "y"::
y = (-2/3)x
