Question 907760: John is starting a roofing business. He will need to buy a truck and some supplies to get his business started. The truck cost $13000 used. He gets 3 jobs right away and hires 2 workers to help him. The materials for all 3 jobs cost $3000. The jobs will each take a week not including Saturday and Sunday. And he pays his workers $125 per day per worker. How much will he have to charge for each job in order to break even at the end of the third job?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
truck = 13000
material for all 3 jobs = 3000
each job takes 5 days for a total of 15 days
workers get paid 125 dollars a day.
each worker gets 125 a day.
each job requires 5 days so he pays each worker 625 per job.
he has them work on 3 jobs, so he pays each worker 1875 for all 3 jobs.
he has 2 workers so he pays out 3750 in total to the workers for all 3 jobs.
his total cost is:
$13,000 for the truck
$3,000 for the material
$3,750 for the workers.
total cost for the 3 jobs is $19,750.
divide that by 3 jobs and you get that he has to charge $6,583.33 for each job.
He'll be off by a penny.
3*6583.33 = $19,749.99
If he wants to make it down to the last penny, then he needs to charge $6,583.34 for one of the jobs and $6,583.33 for the other two jobs.
Then he'll be right on.
